The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Callibrate your Wacom tutorialHad you finally made the transition from intuos 3 to intuos 4?, or Are you rich to change into an intuos 5? Had you made the transition from a first generation cintiq to the new ones?. More levels of pressure will mean more quality to the paintings, am i right?.
Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.

Cool Grey Weekend

So on the 1st of March I moved my mum to the Frail Care centre. It's a 100km roundtrip there and back to visit her. Lots of work ahead of me for the rest of this month packing up her old flatlet and making decisions what to do with her belongings. The new place is basically just a tiny room... and costs a flippin' fortune per month. On the up side : there's 24 hour nursing care on hand and hopefully peace of mind for me to know she's in good hands.

The one good spin-off from this location is that it's close to my favourite local animal rescue shelter, so I will be able to pop in there for some kitty therapy & photos after paying a visit to my mother. Kittens looking to be homed, just like this one:

I should post an update... he is THANK GOD alive but suffered a terrible ordeal; his car was hijacked, he was shot at and locked in the boot before being taken on a very strange joy-ride and then when the car got stuck in sand, the attackers abandoned it and ran off and after a while he managed to escape and found his way to a police station.

Life in Sunny South Africa. Never a dull moment...
